Der Name Cash dürfte vielen Leuten ein Begriff sein. Spätestens seit dem Freakstock 2006 wo der Film "Walk the Line" im Kino lief, kenn ich Johnny Cash.
Dann war da noch eine Visionsausgabe von 2003, die ganz ausführlich über den Werdegang von Cash geschrieben hat. Irgendwie dachte ich immer: Country ist doch öde, nur Gitarre bäh... Brummelstimme.
Doch dann war da noch ein Gutschein vom Müller, denn ich noch hatte. Und weil da wieder die 4 für 3 CD Aktion war, musste ich doch unbedingt mal zugreifen. Neben Deep Purple, Santana und Guns N' Roses war eben auch die Best Of Collection von Johnny Cash dabei. Also hab ich die mal mitgenommen, daheim beim ersten Anhören fand ich die schon etwas strange. Aber "I Walk The Line" kannte ich schon irgendwie und "Ring of Fire" war mir auch bekannt. Und "Man In Black" war mir auch mal ganz neu: Endlich versteh ich warum die Gothics immer so schwarz aussehen. Zumindest die christlichen Gothics.

Tja und dann sind da Songs "Bonanza" und "(Ghost) Riders on the Sky". Nachdem wir gestern abend vom Kino nach Hause gefahren sind und Billy Talent wieder Feierabend hatte im Auto, war Johnny Cash ein richtig schöner Kontrast dazu. Die Musik ist schön und dazu noch gemütlich zum Autofahren.
Und was mich auch immer wieder gewundert hat: Viele Musiker, die in Visions interviewt werden, geben an, dass Johnny Cash sie sehr beeinflusst hat. Bis vor kurzem war ich danach immer perplex. Wie soll ein Country Sänger eine Rockband beeinflussen. Doch nun kann ich es nachvollziehen.
